Import new data in bulk

Read the instructions on the import page carefully. Imports cannot be reverted.

This feature is used to add new equipment to you asset database. For update of existing data see: [Update data in bulk](https://portal-nxt.inspectio.no/help/abd38876-8450-46ca-a45b-c8c02b91a729). To import the data it must be in a format Inspectio understands. If the excel (csv) row does not contain a unique ID in the Id column, inspectio will automatically assume that this is new equipment. Go to your asset and select the arrow next to configure and select **Import Data**:

Import validates your data, if it is not accepted you will be notified with an error listing the invalid fields. Minimum required info to add new equipment is an equipment **Name** and a **Location label.** All other properties are optional.

**Step 1:**

Make sure all equipment has a proper **Name**

**Step 2:**

Make sure all equipment has a **Location label**. This label must match one of the existing locations on the asset.

A location label is the full path describing the location. It looks like this in the portal:

Add full path: "Main Deck/MD6800 Main Crane" to the column named "**Location Labels**"

By doing this you say that this equipment is placed on Main Deck, more specially at MD6800 Main Crane.

- If you need a new location you must add it on the asset before import. Locations are hierarchically structured and you can add sub-locations, or create new parent locations.

**Step 3:**

Make sure your column headers has the **exact same name** as the **asset properties** **already existing** on you asset.

- If you need to import a column that does not have a corresponding property on the asset, you need to add a new property to your asset before import.

For new assets the above steps must be done manually for each property. If the asset already has some information of the same type that you want to add, then it is recommended to take an excel export, and use that file as an import template as it will have the correct header names.

**Step 4:**

Remove any columns not needed for the import.

**Step 5:**

Clear any validation errors. This might be miss-spelled column headers, missing properties on asset, use of values that are not allowed by the asset property, duplicate columns ++.

**Step 6:**

Import when file is validated
